JAKE – the fireman (73”Hx26”W )
Being a fireman, Jake sees what loopholes in laws for construction do to threaten the lives of the homeless and poverty-stricken families. When sprinkler systems are somehow deemed unnecessary and fires occur, the risk for losing human life is high. He sees no reason for using condemned buildings as housing for these vulnerable people. Jake wants the laws enforced and lives saved, but it’s a vicious circle. Here in Minnesota, when temperatures drop below freezing, there’s no place for the homeless to sleep. Jake hopes the politicians elected will make it a priority to have safe housing constructed soon. Jake has his daughter, Lucy, with him today as his wife is no longer with them.
